Volkswagen Polo R WRX Supercar

Like last year’s title-winning Volkswagen Polo GTI RX Supercar, the 2018 evolution – labelled the Polo R Supercar – can trace its roots back to Volkswagen Motorsport’s domination of the World Rally Championship. By way of best-practice and as a way of cutting costs, those super-successful chassis from stages around the world have been rebuilt and re-prepared for the 12 tracks that make up this year’s FIA World Rallycross Championship.

Beneath the bonnet and in the drivetrain, there have been tweaks, but not much more. Outwardly you’ll see changes to the front and rear, with a different wing at the back of the car and revised air intakes in the front bumper. These have been incorporated to further enhance the aerodynamic set-up and the car’s cooling package.
